PROJECT DETAILS

This design-build project involved the rehabilitation of a damaged segment of trail on a sensitive riparian slope. Prior attempts to retain the downhill slope had created a hazardous section of narrow trail that was eroding into a stream. A catwalk-style bridge was recommended. Due to the difficult access and sensitive site, heavy drilling equipment could not be used for geotechnical investigation. Penn Trails used a Kneas drop-bar penetration test for geotechnical testing to design the bridge.
