PROJECT DETAILS

Penn Trails lead this master planning effort, partnering with trail design companies Tahawus Trails, Wilderness Property Management, and Barton & Loguidice, and community engagement consultant Strong Outcomes and Community Consultants on this exciting master plan project.

An extensive (and COVID-safe) stakeholder engagement process was designed to elevate typically underrepresented voices, involving 24 interviews and a survey that garnered a staggering 1,006 responses. Working with the project Guidance Committee, the trail design team incorporated community input and field-verified over 30 miles of trail traversing private and public lands.

The completed conceptual master plan included a total of 50 miles of trail to span the Palmertown Range with a network of trails accommodating a variety of trail uses including but not limited to hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, skiing, and snowmobiling. The master planning portion of the project represents an 8-month process that is still in progress.
